About The Project
Maple Knoll's renovation transformed the café into a versatile, community-focused space with a fast-casual bistro and a self-serve market that also serves as a teaching kitchen, employee breakroom, and event pre-function bar. The project welcomed both residents and the wider community, overcoming challenges like installing the first electric Marra Forni hearth oven in the states due to the lack of gas utilities. With ventless cooking technology and a design that honors local history through a prominent map display, Maple Knoll's new bistro and market offer a modern, welcoming dining experience.

3D Renderings
Architecture, Food Service, Interiors & Branding cover critical coordination elements that can often clash and require delicate coordination details. Visualizing them in real-time allows each discipline to cover any potential gaps. The design team used this process to collaborate and communicate concepts to the client.
3D Virtual Animation
We took the rendering process to the next step and generated custom 3D animation that allowed us to walk them through the design with various camera shots and motion. A video link was generated and hosted on YouTube, making it available for project stakeholders for any marketing efforts and buy-in from decision-makers.

Branding Process
At Maple Knoll, we crafted a cohesive brand identity that honors local heritage while embracing a modern, inviting atmosphere. Upon arriving at the bistro, visitors are greeted by the "Bistro on the Green" signage, where the fresh plant leaf accent sets a vibrant tone for the space. Inside, the bistro features the "Matthews Northrup Hand Map of Cincinnati, Ohio," paired with heritage photos, creating a meaningful connection to the community’s history. The market complements this with a graphic embodying market elements, reinforced by the "Market on Main" logo. Every branding element, fr om logos to signage, seamlessly integrates with the interior design, reinforcing Maple Knoll as a vibrant community hub wh ere history and contemporary style converge.
Interior Design Process
The SCOPOS Interior Design team undertook a project to refresh the existing bistro and marketplace. By utilizing the natural light from the windows, the design incorporated a palette featuring white accent tiles, galvanized tin details, and quartz countertops to enhance the space's brightness. These elements contrast with deeper wood tones in the millwork and flooring, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere. The addition of color in the hearth oven tiles, accessories, and fabrics adds visual interest, resulting in spaces where patrons can enjoy meals or grab a quick bite in a fresh, welcoming environment.
