About The Project
At Dunwoody Village in Newtown, PA, we served as the food service designers and branding consultants for a major expansion of their existing building, doubling the size of their dining area. The project introduced several new dining venues, including the Hearthside, a fast-casual eatery featuring an open hearth oven and grill line for made-to-order meals, and 1712, an upscale fine dining restaurant. The Reserve offers a private dining space for residents to host special events and celebrations, while The Trolley Stop provides a convenient grab-and-go option with pre-made lunches and dinners for residents and staff. Additionally, the Fox Den bar and lounge offers a welcoming atmosphere for residents to unwind with pub-style food and socialize. This expansion has modernized Dunwoody Village's dining experience, enhancing the community’s appeal and providing diverse, high-quality food options.

Branding Process
In developing the branding for Dunwoody Village's expanded dining venues, we delved into the community's rich history and mission to create names and identities that authentically reflect its heritage and values. We crafted Hearthside as a welcoming and social space, emphasizing warmth, family, and the savory creations from its open-hearth oven, blending contemporary comfort with a nod to the past. The fine dining venue, 1712, honors the year William Hood Dunwoody’s ancestors settled on the property, and the leaf symbol in the brand reflects the communities historic ash tree. For the private dining space, The Reserve, we drew inspiration from the love of nature within the community, symbolizing an exclusive space akin to a wildlife reserve, while also paying homage to Dunwoody’s legacy in finance. The Fox Den, the bar and lounge, embraces the playful and cozy lair of the local red fox, celebrating the community's passion for the surrounding wildlife and fostering a sense of connection. Lastly, The Trolley Stop references Newtown Square’s historic trolley era when Dunwoody was once a stop on the historic mainline, and now it offers a convenient grab-and-go option for quick snacks or meals. This creates an approachable experience for residents. By weaving these stories into the brand identities, we ensured that each venue reflects the essence of Dunwoody Village, enhancing its appeal while celebrating its history, nature, and tight-knit community spirit.
