Embark on a transformative journey at Spelman University, where we have transformed the campus dining experience into a vibrant and modern setting. The Upshaw Dining area underwent a significant facelift with new back-of-house flooring, updated food service equipment, and a complete interior renovation, including the reupholstery of dining booths and banquettes. Our commitment to enhancing the student experience extends to retail dining, where we introduced two new venues, Slutty Vegan and Ace Sushi, accompanied by fresh branding, graphics, and an interior facelift using paint and graphics. In the Suites, we revitalized the existing servery with new wall coverings, paint, service line, dining tables, chairs, and beverage counter, ensuring a contemporary and inviting atmosphere. The entrance hall, once unused and unappealing, has been transformed into additional seating for the servery, featuring new lighting, wall coverings, paint, lounge seating, POS systems, and menu boards. A standout achievement is the creation of Spelman After Dark, a student night club born from an existing dreary space. With wall graphics, lighting, booths, lounge and table seating, paint, and more, we turned an overlooked area into a captivating social hub. This project has not only modernized the college's outdated appearance but also injected a vibrant energy that resonates with the dynamic spirit of our students and staff, with the night club standing out as a true showstopper.

SCOPOS Interior Design and Branding team were challenged to breathe new life into the Upshaw Dining hall at a refresh level. Inspired by the feminine culture, we wanted the backdrop of the space to be strong Spelman blues complimented by contemporary neutrals for our paint choices. We identified areas where inexpensive, custom printed graphics and FRP would make an expansive impact. This included the entrance wall of windows, station fronts and soffits. Playful lighting throughout and curated accessories complete the transformation!

The retail space was in need of a bold splash of color to tie the space together. Fun signage and a generous application of custom graphics combined with playful furniture and fixtures created a successful social hub for the students.

The Suites and Spelman After Dark was a previously under-utilized multi-purpose room and food service bistro abandoned during COVID. Bon Appetit’s goal was to turn the facility into a vibrant, sought after designation for lunch, dinner and weekend entertainment. SCOPOS was inspired by the local Atlanta jazz scene and the underground graffiti art movement. This inspiration jump-started the Interior Design and Branding teams’ collective vision for the space, which boast larger than life black and white hounds tooth graphics, vibrant murals showcasing empowered women, massive modern brass and crystal light fixtures and an industrial vibe café to bring the Spelman student body together in an environment where they can thrive and be entertained!
